As a teacher of gov and civics I am constantly talking to my students about taking the power of the people to the level it should be. We have forgotten in this country the power of our numbers. The government of our state here in NY feels very threatened by these ideas. The state assembly continues to reject bills intended to activate the initiative and referendum process. The people are a threat to business as usual. We have an apathetic citizenery that is mostly been brainwashed and hoodwinded by fundamently greedy, egotistical, and incompetent people. Many of the people in our government offices and agencies should not be there!! We can make a diffference, however we need to wake up the sleeping populous!! And more importantly train our youth with the skills and knowledge that they will need to do the things you have written about. I think you make some very important points.
